Rivian’s electric vehicles are packed with innovative features that are designed to make your driving experience smoother, more efficient, and more enjoyable. While some of the more well-known features like off-road modes and the "tank turn" have made headlines, there are plenty of lesser-known tips and tricks that can help you get even more out of your Rivian. Here are 10 lesser-known tips that you might not have discovered yet:

1. Remotely roll up/down Windows

If you've owned a european car, you are likely familiar with this, but with the Rivian if you press then press and hold on the fob lock/unlock button, you can lock/unlock all doors and roll up/down all windows.

2. Hidden USB-C Port in the Frunk

The frunk (front trunk) or froot (front boot for Brits) has a hidden USB-C port that can be used for charging devices or connecting to the vehicle’s infotainment system. This makes it even more practical, especially when you’re on the go and need to keep your gadgets powered up while using the storage space for gear.

3. Adjustable Interior Lighting

The ambient lighting in the cabin of your Rivian can be customized to suit your mood. You can adjust the color and brightness of the interior lighting through the touchscreen. Whether you're looking for a cool, blue glow for a relaxing drive or a warm amber tone for a more cozy atmosphere, this feature adds a touch of personalization to your Rivian's interior.

4. Dynamic Tire Pressure Monitoring

Most EVs give you a general readout of tire pressure, but Rivian takes it a step further with its dynamic tire pressure monitoring system. It not only tells you the tire pressure but also displays real-time tire temperatures and can alert you if any tire is experiencing issues due to changes in temperature or road conditions. This feature is particularly helpful when off-roading, where tire pressures may fluctuate more than on paved roads.

5. Auto Hold for Uphill Starts

If you're driving up a hill and find yourself needing to stop (for a red light or traffic), you can use the Auto Hold feature to prevent the vehicle from rolling back. When activated, the system automatically engages the brakes and holds the vehicle in place, allowing you to smoothly accelerate when it’s time to move forward. It's a particularly useful feature for drivers who live in hilly areas or often find themselves at an incline.

6. One-Pedal Driving Customization

Rivian's one-pedal driving is a feature that lets you control both acceleration and braking with just the accelerator pedal, making it easier to handle stop-and-go traffic. But did you know you can customize the level of regen braking for this feature? Through the vehicle’s settings, you can adjust how aggressive the regenerative braking is, allowing for a smoother or more responsive one-pedal experience depending on your preferences.

7. Convenient Bed Tent Storage

The R1T's gear tunnel isn’t just for storage—it also provides a hidden compartment for stowing away your camping gear, including the optional bed tent. Rivian offers a custom-fit camping tent that fits snugly in the bed of the R1T, and you can easily store it in the gear tunnel when not in use. The tunnel also makes it easy to access your camping gear without needing to open the truck bed and expose everything to the elements.

8. Off-Road Driving Assistance with Trail Cam

For off-road enthusiasts, the Trail Cam feature in Rivian provides a unique view of the terrain right in front of your vehicle. When you're in off-road mode, you can activate the trail cam through the infotainment system, and it gives you a live feed of obstacles that might be hard to see from the driver’s seat. This feature helps you navigate tricky trails and avoid obstacles, enhancing both safety and confidence while off-roading.

9. Speed Limit Notification

Rivian’s navigation system can display speed limit signs for the roads you’re driving on, but it also has a speed limit notification feature that will alert you when you exceed the posted speed limit. You can toggle the notification on or off in the settings, but having it on can serve as a helpful reminder to stay within legal limits and drive responsibly.

10. Remote Vehicle Diagnostics

Rivian offers an advanced remote diagnostics feature that allows you to check the health of your vehicle remotely via the Rivian app. If you're experiencing any issues, you can run a diagnostic test to identify problems with the battery, motors, and other components. This feature can save you time and prevent minor issues from becoming major problems, as you can address any concerns promptly and even schedule a service appointment directly through the app.
